Glasgow City Centre Lane Strategy

What do we want to know?:

The lanes network in the city centre is flourishing in some areas, but could undoubtedly be improved in others.   This draft lanes strategy is part of the council’s wider city centre strategy which seeks to improve the overall experience of the city centre for people, as well as encouraging footfall and economic development. Developed in consultation with stakeholders including the, businesses, community groups, and waste contractors.  The draft lane strategy contains a range of potential actions such as events and pop-up activities; integration with City Deal and initiatives on waste and recycling; public health and community safety; parking and surfacing.

Given the complex nature of lane ownership, it will be essential to develop a shared sense of mission and motivation from these owners to successfully help deliver the strategy. The regeneration of these lanes would play a significant role in the on-going transformation on the city centre.
