What do we want to know?: Under the Gambling Act 2005 the City of Glasgow Licensing Board has a number of important regulatory functions in relation to gambling activity in the city.
In accordance with the Act, the Licensing Board must prepare, consult on and publish a policy which it proposes to apply when exercising relevant gambling related functions.
The majority of the changes to the policy statement are to reflect changes made to the Gambling Commission’s Guidance to Licensing Authorities, including the introduction of a definition for “available for use” in relation to gaming machines.
There is also a new proposal to require premises licence holders to develop safeguarding policies in relation to children and vulnerable adults in pursuance of the licensing objective of “protecting children and other vulnerable persons from being harmed or exploited by gambling’.
We are interested in your views on the proposed changes to the policy statement which are shown as tracked changes. Please submit your views by email to licensingboard@glasgow.gov.uk or in writing to:-
