Supplementary Guidance SG6: Green Belt and Green Network

What do we want to know?:

The Glasgow City Development Plan commits to the preparation of Supplementary Guidance to accompany policy CDP6 of the Plan and provide further guidance on its use and implementation.  SG6 provides this further detailed guidance, including on development in the Green Belt, the enhancement of the green network, the protection of open space and the provision of open space to support new development, including the role of contributions from new development in delivering the different types of open space required.

These different types of open space include open space in the city centre, space for food growing, space for formal sports and good quality, multifunctional local green spaces within an easy walk of people’s homes.  The guidance links to a map that identifies the spaces considered to have the greatest potential to be used as these good quality, multifactional local green spaces (referred to as “Community Spaces” in the draft guidance) and the degree to which they are currently of an acceptable quality, illustrating where and on what developer contributions for this aspect of open space need will be spent.

You can find the potential community spaces using the map here. (https://glasgowgis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/dashboards/64e7cd50d4524dd0b1ed3e3ae6592436)
