As part of the Connecting Yorkhill and Kelvingrove active travel project it is proposed to introduce permanent two-way cycle tracks on Gilbert Street, Haugh Road, Radnor Street, Sandyford Street and Yorkhill Street Connecting Yorkhill and Kelvingrove is an ambitious area-based project that will see the delivery of improved public spaces and segregated cycle infrastructure on strategic routes. Further, the project will create new connections to nearby existing active travel infrastructure to make walking, wheeling and cycling more comfortable, attractive and safe for people living in, and travelling through, the area. At the heart of the Connecting Yorkhill and Kelvingrove project is a focus to work with the local community to improve streets and public spaces for walking, wheeling and cycling to reduce the dominance of road traffic.

Connecting Woodside is an ambitious area based project which forms a key component in Glasgow's proposed cycle network. The project complements many surrounding projects and acts as 'the missing piece of the jigsaw' helping to connect Woodside/Woodlands to Sauchiehall Street, the Forth and Clyde Canal and regeneration work at Port Dundas and Sighthill. At the heart of the Connecting Woodside project is an aim to work with the community to improve streets and public spaces for walking, wheeling and cycling, rebalancing streets to reduce the dominance of road traffic.

The project will help to grow an active travel culture so that all, young and old, feel safe and comfortable making their daily journeys. The project will also help to deliver a better quality of life in a social environment for residents and visitors to the area. Improving the cycling infrastructure and facilities will also help to make cycling safer and more accessible for all, which will encourage people to cycle instead of drive for shorter journeys.

Glasgow City Council, in partnership with Sustrans, are proposing to create a safer, more attractive, and more enjoyable space at the junction of North Woodside Road and Great Western Road.

Are you a local contractor or tradesperson working on traditional buildings in Govan or wider Glasgow? Help us secure more funding for the area by filling a short survey! If your trade falls within the bracket of traditional building skills (masonry, joinery, carpentry, slating, leadwork, metalwork, bricklaying etc) we encourage you to fill out this short questionnaire to help us learn your challenges while trying to source and maintain a skilled workforce to work on traditional buildings. It will take only 5-7 minutes to fill out the survey. We would also appreciate it if you could circulate it to your subcontractors who work within the traditional building sector or other relevant tradespeople or contractors.

An update to the existing Glasgow Air Quality Action Plans (AQAP) is a statutory requirement of the Scottish Government due to the continuing existence of an Air Quality Management Area (AQMA) within the city. The City Centre AQMA continues to record levels of nitrogen dioxide (NO₂) in exceedance of national objectives. The aim of this consultation is to engage with stakeholders and the public and to obtain views on the actions Glasgow City Council propose to take to reduce air pollution levels and achieve the air quality objectives throughout the city.

Play is central to children’s enjoyment of life and essential to their physical and emotional well-being and their healthy development. ‘Children’ means persons under the age of 18 years.

We are carrying out assessments to evaluate outdoor play opportunities and experiences for children in Glasgow. To help us do this we are asking   citizens of Glasgow who may be parents, carers and people who work with children  to complete our short survey.

‘The importance of play in children’s daily lives and healthy development has become increasingly recognised in recent years. A growing body of evidence supports the view that playing, throughout childhood, is not only an innate behaviour but also contributes to children’s quality of life, their well-being and their physical, social, emotional and cognitive development. The type of environment for play is also important, having an impact on children’s experience, choices and relationships, both with other people and with the environment itself’ Play Scotland.
