Click for more detail COP 26 Section 11 Order – Suspension of Public Access Rights Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability 20 Aug 2021 03 Sep 2021
What do we want to know?

The Council is consulting on the temporary suspension of public access rights in the area around and including the SEC to reflect security requirements associated with the COP 26 Climate Summit in November 2021.

Under the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003, the Council is required to provide the opportunity for the public to submit representations or objections to a proposed ‘Section 11 Order’, the purpose of which is to manage public access during the event. A copy of the statutory Order notice, together with a plan detailing the area and paths affected by suspension of access rights, is provided below.

The extent of the exclusion zone around the SEC has been determined by the UK and Scottish Governments in conjunction with Police Scotland and is outwith the control of Glasgow City Council. However, we have proposed alternative routes to help pedestrians and cyclists navigate around the area during the event and would welcome comments or ideas about the proposed routes.

Objections and representations in respect of the proposed Order may be submitted by email to  getreadyglasgow@glasgow.gov.uk, for the consideration of the Council, to arrive on or before Friday 3rd September 2021. In the case of objections, the grounds on which they are made should be stated. Please mark your email ‘Section 11 Response’.

Please note that we can only consider objections that relate specifically to the proposals for managing non-motorised public access as set out in the notice of the proposed Section 11 Order. For other information about the COP 26 Climate Summit please go to: https://www.getreadyglasgow.com/

All correspondence specifically relating to the proposed Section 11 Order will be passed to the Scottish Government to inform their assessment of the draft Order.
