What do we want to know?

Glasgow City Council is holding an online consultation and walk-in session to assess proposals for improved active travel routes, serving communities in the North East of Glasgow and connecting to the City Centre.

We are proposing a number of changes to improve the environment for cyclists, pedestrians, local residents and businesses, and to reduce sustainable transport journey times.

These proposals include:

• 5 km of segregated cycle routes

• Road space reallocation and traffic calming measures

• Upgraded surfacing on footways and cycle routes

• Improved pedestrian crossing facilities

A public drop in session will be held on:

Wednesday 8th August
3pm – 7pm
Beatroute Arts Centre
285 Wallacewell Road
G21 3RP

This consultation will focus on proposed designs for segregated cycle routes and improved pedestrian facilities on Wallacewell Road, Northgate Road, Balornock Road, Broomfield Road, Red Road, Petershill Road, Turner Road and Cobden Road.

Information and an online survey will be available via www.glasgow.gov.uk/neatr from 25th July, for a period of 4 weeks. This will provide an opportunity for residents and businesses to provide comments on the proposals that might assist with the detailed layout. The closing date for consultation will be the 22nd August.

What do we want to know?

Following a successful pilot across 8 city centre streets, the Commercial Waste Project was extended to include the entire city centre on 1st April 2018. This ensures that large, bulky commercial waste containers are no longer left permanently stored on our city centre streets or lanes causing obstructions and creating environmental issues. As the project rolls out to other areas we want to evaluate the impact on the businesses, residents and visitors of Glasgow and your views and opinions are an important part of this process.

What do we want to know?

During the European Championships taking place in Glasgow in August 2018, part of Glasgow Green will be used for ‘Go Live at the Green’, an activity zone providing a variety of free public engagement and entertainment facilities.  The area will also host the start and finish zone for three cycle road race events.  During this period (31st July to 12th August) general public access rights under the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 will be suspended in this part of the Green for safety and security purposes, although there will be free entry to the ‘Go Live’ activity zone each day via secure entry points during operating hours (10am and 7pm). Access restrictions will affect part of the River Road (known as the Clyde Walkway/National Cycle Route 75) only during cycle race events. This consultation is to provide the public with an opportunity to comment on the access arrangements.
