As part of Glasgow’s Housing Strategy monitoring and evaluation framework (2011-2016), it was agreed that an evaluation would be carried out in the final year of the strategy and that this would be fed through the Council’s Engagement Network for comment. 

This Evaluation Report considers the impact of the implementation of Glasgow’s Housing Strategy 2011-2016 and reflects on the changing context in which the Strategy has been implemented. 

Feedback from the evaluation report will help us make an informed assessment as to what changes we need to make in our new strategy currently under development. We would therefore like to invite you to review and comment on our Housing Strategy Evaluation Report 2011-2016.

Under the Gambling Act 2005 the City of Glasgow Licensing Board has a number of important regulatory functions in relation to gambling activity in the city. These include licensing premises such as betting shops and bingo halls, regulating gaming and gaming machines in clubs and alcohol licensed premises, granting permits to family entertainment centres, granting permits for prize gaming, and registering small society lotteries.

In accordance with the Act, the Licensing Board must prepare, consult on and publish a policy which it proposes to apply when exercising relevant gambling related functions. We are interested in your views on both the proposed changes to the policy statement and to the terms of the draft guidance. Proposed changes to the policy have been highlighted in yellow, both documents available below.

Glasgow's budget for local services remains under increased pressure as tough economic conditions continue to impact local government.

This has meant the council has had to both reduce its spending and try to increase its income in order to balance its budget; which it is legally required to do.

The Scottish Government's settlement for local government in 2016/17 includes a cash reduction of £53 million. Coupled with budget pressures of £33 million, this means the council has a budget shortfall of £86 million in the next financial year.

When added to an estimated shortfall of £47 million forecast for 2017/18, the requirement for savings over the next two years is £133 million.

The elected members of Glasgow City Council will take decisions on setting the budget on March 10, 2016. As well as ideas that you might have, the council's professional officers will continue to make suggestions that councillors will consider.

Glasgow City Council is undertaking a public consultation to assess how we can improve Victoria Road for walking, cycling and using public transport. Redesigning Victoria Road and giving more road space and priority to pedestrians and cyclists will provide a more attractive and safe space to use.

The proposals will consider: zebra crossings, enhanced bus stops, cycle parking and segregated cycle lanes.
