Click for more detail Drumchapel Local Development Framework (LDF) Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability 27 Jun 2023 05 Sep 2023
What do we want to know?

The City Council has published a consultative draft Local Development Framework (LDF) for Drumchapel. The purpose of the Drumchapel LDF is to provide a long-term vision for the development of the area and to coordinate development activity over the short, medium and long term. Over the long term, some aspirations of the LDF could extend as far as 25-30 years into the future.

Types of development addressed include public spaces, housing, shops, facilities, transport infrastructure, and open spaces like parks and play areas. The LDF also contains an initial action programme to be delivered over different timescales.

We want to get people’s views on the current draft and encourage local residents, workers, organisations or anyone else with a connection to the area to take part in this consultation by submitting their comments. Responses can be made by completing the online survey or by emailing comments to LDFConsultation@glasgow.gov.uk

Click for more detail Your Citizen Voice — Ideas in Calton Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability 23 Jun 2023 14 Jul 2023
What do we want to know?

Glasgow City Council’s Centre for Civic Innovation has been working with more than 200 citizens, colleagues and local partners to co-design a new way of working in neighbourhoods. We aim to amplify the voice of our citizens through participatory democracy and allow Area Partnerships to make decisions based on the opinions of as many local people as possible.

In order to test this system we will be running a prototype in two Wards of the city over the next 18 weeks - Calton and Greater Pollok. We will be using the Neighbourhood Infrastructure Investment Fund in both Wards and will be asking citizens for their opinion on how £1 million of infrastructure investment is spent in their neighbourhood.

During the 18 week process, there will be a mix of in person, in-place and online, engagement over two periods with specialist teams set up to support the process.

The aim of the prototypes is to test the ideas co-designed over several months and deliver a system that works better for our citizens, creates stronger relationships locally and makes better use of council resources. The prototype will test different methods and timelines to understand what is achievable: this will include a shorter period for online surveys of between three and four weeks which is shorter than the recommended period in current guidelines. This process will be supplemented with additional in-person and in-place activity. Rather than having infrequent, prolonged consultations, this is intended to have shorter, more regular feedback loops with citizens based on our research and engagement.

This survey is included in Part One of the process and will aim to understand the infrastructure themes that are important to citizens in Calton. Citizens will also be able to submit ideas on how the money should be spent in their neighbourhood.

What do we want to know?

The Licensing and Regulatory Committee has a historic policy that private hire cars when the become 7 years of age since the date of first registration it must be taken out of service and replaced (“7 year Age Limitation Policy”). This 7 year Age Limitation Policy only applies to Private Hire Cars. It does not apply to Taxis.

This 7 year Age Limitation Policy was temporarily relaxed during the Covid -19 pandemic.  On 23 November 2022 the Licensing and Regulatory Committee considered a report from the Director of Legal and Administration in relation to whether the 7 year Age Limitation Policy should be reintroduced. On 23 November 2022 the Licensing and Regulatory Committee agreed:

  1. not to reintroduce the 7 year Age Limitation Policy for private hire cars at that time; and
  2. instructed the Director of Legal and Administration to undertake a review of the 7 year Age Limitation Policy with a view to the upper age limit being increased.
