Click for more detail Frontiers of the Roman Empire (Antonine Wall) World Heritage Sites Supplementary Guidance Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability 19 Oct 2022 14 Dec 2022
What do we want to know?

The Council is continuing its programme of producing Supplementary Guidance in association with the Glasgow City Development Plan (adopted March 2017). Supplementary Guidance offers more detailed guidance and expands upon existing policies and proposals contained in the Plan.

The Frontiers of the Roman Empire (Antonine Wall) World Heritage Sites Supplementary Guidance was prepared jointly in 2010 by the five local authorities who cover the area of the Antonine Wall (West Dunbartonshire Council, East Dunbartonshire Council, Glasgow City Council, North Lanarkshire Council, and Falkirk Council). An updated version of the SG, prepared jointly in July 2022 by the same five Councils and Historic Environment Scotland, is now out for consultation. This SG will support all local development plan policies relating to the World Heritage Site, in particular Policy CDP 9 - Historic Environment.

This revised SG, which is in the process of being adopted separately by each local authority, involves minor changes to the 2010 Supplementary Guidance to improve clarity and understanding. Once adopted, the document will form part of each Council’s Local Development Plan.

Anyone can comment on this draft Supplementary Guidance, but the consultation may be particularly relevant to people who are involved in development matters in and around the World Heritage Site such as housing and commercial developers and individual householders. Other interested parties may include local interest groups who support the work of the local authorities and Historic Environment Scotland.

Click for more detail Connecting Woodside – Phase 2 - St George’s Road Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability 03 Oct 2022 14 Nov 2022
What do we want to know?

Connecting Woodside is an ambitious area based project which forms a key component in Glasgow's proposed cycle network. The project complements many surrounding projects and acts as 'the missing piece of the jigsaw' helping to connect Woodside/Woodlands to Sauchiehall Street, the Forth and Clyde Canal and regeneration work at Port Dundas and Sighthill. At the heart of the Connecting Woodside project is an aim to work with the community to improve streets and public spaces for walking, wheeling and cycling, rebalancing streets to reduce the dominance of road traffic.

The project will help to grow an active travel culture so that all, young and old, feel safe and comfortable making their daily journeys. The project will also help to deliver a better quality of life in a social environment for residents and visitors to the area. Improving the cycling infrastructure and facilities will also help to make cycling safer and more accessible for all, which will encourage people to cycle instead of drive for shorter journeys.

The provision of dedicated, separated cycle infrastructure on St George’s Road will connect Sauchiehall Street Avenue and the City Centre to the existing Garscube Road cycle segregation, Claypits nature reserve and the Forth and Clyde Canal. This cycle facility will also provide a direct, safe and inclusive connection for the communities of Woodside and Woodlands whilst supporting travel options for the recent regeneration of the communities of Hamiltonhill, Sighthill and Port Dundas.

New cycle facilities on St George’s Road will also see direct and safe connections between the proposed Quietway routes on North Woodside Road, Braid Street, West Princes Street and also the future “Underline” route at New City Road being delivered as part of the City Centre Avenues programme.

As well as the provision of cycle facilities on St George’s Road, this phase of the Connecting Woodside project proposes to introduce enhanced pedestrian crossing points, improved footway surfaces, LED street lighting and improvements to the existing green spaces.

Click for more detail Reflecting on 10 years of Transformational Regeneration Areas Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability 29 Aug 2022 08 Oct 2022
What do we want to know?

Glasgow is always changing. Some areas in particular, known as Transformational Regeneration Areas (TRAs), are going through periods of significant change. These areas are Maryhill, Sighthill, Gallowgate, North Toryglen, Pollokshaws, and Laurieston. For the 10th anniversary since work in TRAs began, we would like to hear from people living in these neighbourhoods how you feel about them and how you feel about the way they have changed. We are looking to understand what has improved through the regeneration and what still needs to be worked on through listening to your thoughts and experiences.

Glasgow City Council is now required to process personal information in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). For more information about this please visit : https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=22793
