What do we want to know?

The project will improve access by upgrading the footpaths and landscaping in the area to provide a more pleasing environment for local people to use.

As well as improving the route between Panmure St, Bilsland Dive and Balmore Road, new connections will be made that allow safer links through the existing communities by establishing routes that run east to west to connect the community to Ruchill Park and the school campus including St. Cuthberts and High park.

The new landscape will feel like a small linear park with places for recreation and exercise. Nature is important and the soft landscape areas will be allowed to grow wild to encourage biodiverstiy as well as featuring nature trails and nature-based play areas.

Your survey responses will help shape the design and help us understand your neighbourhood even better. There will be further consultation once the project has been progressed. Following construction, we would also like to understand whether your thoughts on your area have changed.

What do we want to know?

The focus of the project is to create a safer place for the local people that improves access for pedestrians, wheelers and cyclists to move through this busy street linking Ruchill Park to Maryhill town centre.

The excessive road space will be reconfigured to allow people to go about their everyday journeys by creating a street for the people, not just vehicles.

Ruchill Street is an important connection in the north of the city, but its also a place where people live. This project will rebalance the space currently allocated to vehicles to create space for active travel as well as a more pleasing street environment which will include places for nature, recreation and play.

What do we want to know?

The focus of the project is to create a safer place for the local people that improves access for pedestrians, wheelers and cyclists to move through this busy neighbourhood.

Currently, there is an excessive amount of road space that can be reconfigured to allow people to go about their everyday journeys by creating a street for the people, not just vehicles.

Proposals to reconfigure the roundabout to make the monument more accessible and improve the public realm between the monument and Battlefield Rest are a key priority.

The project will tie into the ‘Connecting Battlefield’ project which is providing improvements to active travel and public realm in the Battlefield neighbourhood.

Click for more detail Toryglen Streets for People Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability 29 Aug 2022 14 Oct 2022
What do we want to know?

The project will revitalise under-utilised public space creating a series of playful green links that permeate through the neighbourhood.

The ‘green fingers’ will establish a network of natural play spaces forming routes that link Armay Park to the south with Malls Mire in the north of Toryglen. These ‘fingers’ will permeate the neighbourhood and better connect the community to the schools and local facilities.

Clear crossing points will establish safer and more attractive routes for pedestrians, reprioritising the road space for pedestrians in these locations.

Innovative nature based play solutions will be introduced to the green spaces preserving the established natural environment. The routes through the green spaces will take advantage of the steep topography and add a playful experience that will help define the character of the project.

Click for more detail South Central Local Development Framework (SCLDF) Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability 22 Aug 2022 31 Oct 2022
What do we want to know?

Glasgow’s City Development Plan calls for creation of Local Development Frameworks (LDF) to inform development within three priority areas of the city where it is recognised that an additional layer of planning guidance is needed. South Central Glasgow is one of the three priority areas identified by the City Development Plan. The LDF for South Central Glasgow identifies key issues and opportunities in the area, and sets the vision and framework for future development in line with the spatial policies of the City Development Plan.

We would welcome your views on the South Central LDF in its current draft and encourage everyone to take part in this survey.

The draft LDF and supporting documents are available to view on our webpage: https://glasgow.gov.uk/article/26448/South-Central-Local-Development-Framework
